I have a garden shed in my garden that I Love. It is beautiful to look at, stores my tools and draws people to it because it is so charming. I want to use it for a place to read and relax in when I am able to.

Great examples of using texture in your decor. Beautiful wood, stone and paper. It would also be great to see some additional sources of texture used – some with some color since wood and stone are very neutral. Great post – thanks!

Hi Saffronia!

I think you are right, your taste is exquisite and right on. The Belgian farmhouse upstairs room needs contrast!

I am having so much fun reading your blogs and relating it to what I am designing in my garden studios in North Park, San Diego. I have an open canvas inside and out and I am painting away in all sorts of textures from found objects. I will send pics soon and my website is starting to show a few as the property evolves.

Thanks for your comments. Loft spaces are so great because of their scale, among other things. I feel like a could get lost is a loft….which is magical. And the history speaks to me.

I’m sorry but I don’t see design here. This is more a case of someone attempting to acquire style by buying It. which of course never works.
Goudy, ostentatious, eclectic expensive throw togethers don’t make style and design.
Just because one buys “names”, and there are some very good ones,has no bearing what so ever on what pleases the eye. But its all subjective isn’t it?
So sorry for my money we will have to beg to diffe here.
But thank you for a wondefully layed out article.

I realize I did not post the reply I sent to you, so again…thank you so much for your comment. Loree’s home is spectacular and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Often I find gray to be rather cold, but with the taupes and interesting wood colors, along with silver…it is quite warm and interesting. I am determined to feature more wonderful, minimal asian interiors as soon as possible.
